How to spot a trucking recruiting scam
Real recruiters never charge you. Here are the warning signs.
Fake job ads and fake recruiters target drivers every day. Here is how to protect yourself.
Red flags
- They ask for money: an "application fee", "training deposit", "background check fee" or payment for a "guaranteed" job. Legitimate recruiters are paid by carriers, never by drivers.
- They ask for your Social Security number, bank login or card number by text or email before you have talked to anyone.
- The pay is far above everything else, for a job with no experience, no record check and no details.
- They pressure you to decide today, or refuse to put the offer in writing.
- The messages come from a personal email or an app account that does not match the company name.
How we work
- We never charge drivers at any step.
- We do not ask for your Social Security number, license number or date of birth by text or email. The carrier collects what it needs in its own application.
- We confirm the current terms in writing before you apply.
If someone claims to be Better Today and asks you for money, do not pay. Call us at the number on our contact page.
